No Bad News
Patty Griffin again... a little snippet of her NO BAD NEWS lyrics
Don't bring me bad news, no bad news
I don't need none of your bad news today
You're a sad little boy, anyone can see it
You're just a sad little boy, that's why you're carrying on that way
Why don't you burn it all down
burn your own house down, burn your own house down
Try to cure your own disease
And leave the rest of us, there's a lot of us, leave the rest of us
Who want to live in peace, to live in peace
Patty is golden. Rocking testosterone and feminine lace. Hinting timidly with an aggressive voice. Art is in the words too. Woven stories worn in so many ways.

the trick
"after Xenia Hausner" sjacobsfabianI especially love the last part of this poem. Hauntingly gentle. Cheers to the last day of 2008. Goodbye, Year.
Sea Fever
I must go down to the seas again,
to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship
and a star to steer her by,
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song
and the white sail's shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea's face
and a grey dawn breaking.
I must go down to the seas again,
for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call
that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day
with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume,
and the sea-gulls crying.
I must go down to the seas again
to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull's way and the whale's way
where the wind's like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn
from a laughing fellow rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream
when the long trick's over.
